PRETE PRETE WORKSAPI

Terms of service.

PreteWorks API · last updated 3 September 2026

These terms govern your use of PreteWorks API (the "Service") at https://api.preteworks.com and https://pdf.preteworks.com, including the HTTP API, the MCP server, the free in-browser tools, and the related web pages. The Service is operated by PRETE9 LLC, an Ohio limited liability company ("we", "us"). PreteWorks is a name used by PRETE9 LLC for this and related offerings. By requesting an API key or calling the Service you agree to these terms.

1. The Service, and its beta status

The Service performs PDF and web operations on content you submit and returns the result. It is currently in beta: features, limits and prices may change, and we may pause or withdraw the Service. We will give notice of material changes to paid terms by email to the address on your billing profile and by posting here.

2. API keys

You are responsible for every request made with your key. Keep it secret; if it leaks, contact us at access@preteworks.com so it can be revoked. We may revoke keys that are used in breach of these terms, and we may apply rate limits and capacity limits (published on /pricing and /status) to protect the Service.

3. Free tier, free tools, and paid use

The free tier provides a monthly allowance of units without payment details; the free tools run a limited number of operations in the browser without a key. Both may be limited or withdrawn at any time. Pay as you go use is billed monthly in arrears for the units consumed, at the per-unit price shown on /pricing at the time of use (currently $0.002 per unit). Only successful calls are billed. Payments are processed by Stripe; you can update your card or cancel at any time on /account. Cancelling stops future charges; units already consumed remain payable. Prices are exclusive of sales, use or similar taxes; where we are required to collect such tax it is added at checkout and shown on your invoice. If you are exempt, send us a valid exemption certificate before purchase.

4. Acceptable use

You may use the Service only for lawful purposes and only on content you have the right to process. In particular you must not use it to: fetch, render or store content in breach of a third party's terms, rights or applicable law (including scraping where that is prohibited); submit malware or content designed to disrupt the Service; probe, overload or circumvent its limits or security; or resell raw access to the Service without our agreement. You are responsible for compliance with the laws that apply to you and to the pages and files you submit.

Sanctions and export control. The Service is not available to users located in, ordinarily resident in, or organised under the laws of a comprehensively sanctioned jurisdiction (currently Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria), or to any person on a US restricted-party list. We apply automated country-level blocking to service requests; you must not attempt to circumvent it, and you represent that you are not such a person.

5. Your content

You keep all rights to the files, HTML and URLs you submit and to the results. We process your content only to perform the operation you requested and do not use it for any other purpose. Retention is short and is described in the privacy policy.

6. Availability and warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Daily rendering capacity is finite and shown live on /status.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, revenue or profit, arising from the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time; paid customers cancel on /account. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, for abuse that threatens the Service, or if the Service is withdrawn. Sections 5, 7 and 9 survive termination.

9. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. If any provision is unenforceable the rest remains in effect. These terms are the entire agreement between us regarding the Service. Questions: access@preteworks.com.
